Description:

Director, Information Systems is responsible for all aspects of information systems, including support of the physical infrastructure (networks, computing, desktops), support of the information infrastructure (databases, reporting, and associated tools), and support of the application portfolio (desktop and enterprise applications).

What they mean by support is to keep the current systems running at a high enough level of reliability to allow the business to operate efficiently as well as help the company grow by upgrading or replacing elements of the existing environment and/or bringing in new infrastructure or applications as the business needs them.

This company has a small IS organization (and it is expected to remain relatively small for at least a few more years). T
he company recognizes the value of the function and wants a team of 'A' players in the IS organization.
The right candidate for the director position must have the following characteristics:

Approximately 10+ years of experience in Information Systems with a combination of experience as both an individual contributor as well as a manager.
You will be managing a team of five to start. Coming from an application development background is key.
The environment is Microsoft, SQL Server
At least 5 years of experience in a medium-to-large enterprise environment; even though this company is small they plan to grow and need this person to have larger environment experience.

The candidate must be technically current in at least two of the following: data center infrastructure management, database management/data warehousing, network infrastructure management, and/or application development.

The candidate must be execution-focused.
The job has an 80% tactical/20% strategic focus.

The most important IT issue facing the company over the next 12-18 months is enterprise reporting and information management. The candidate must be able to contribute to arriving at and implementing solutions in this area.

The candidate must have great interpersonal and communication skills.
This is a creatively-focused company.
